Exhibition History"A Way of Reasoning on Paper," The Art of Saul Steinberg, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Missouri. April 18 - December 3, 2023.
Just what happened to Saul Steinberg on October 12, 1972, the date called out in stenciled letters at the top of this drawing? Judging from the word “ARGH” at the center of the sheet, it could not have been good. is one-word visual diary entry is quite the contrast to his meticulous practice of keeping a record of his daily life in appointment books, including gallery openings, poker nights, romantic rendezvous, and commission deadlines.
