DescriptionThe vertically oriented monochromatic pen-and-ink drawing depicts a woman who faces the viewer in a what appears to be a seated position despite there being nothing shown on which she could sit. She has chin-length wavy hair, wide-set eyes, and full lips. She wears a long-sleeved gown and holds her hands, fingers lightly intertwined, in her lap. The woman fills the composition with the top of her head near the top of the image and the lower portion of her gown extending to the lower left edge.ProvenanceInherited from the artist by his wife, Anna Francis Bloch (1913-2014), 1961-1994;
