DescriptionThe watercolor depicts a nude woman lying on her back on top of what appears to be a bed of small, multi-colored flowers. Her pale, elongated body is shown parallel to the picture plane in the lower third of the composition with her head at the far left and her feet at the far right. Her eyes are closed and her long brown hair falls loosely around her shoulders. The upper two-thirds of the composition is occupied by six clown-like figures with painted faces who wear multi-colored costumes and hats. Each figure is posed in a slightly different manner as they gaze down at the body of the woman in the foreground.Copyright© Albert Bloch Foundation
