DescriptionCut-carrickmacross. The "lace" was made by couching an outlining thread to a piece of cotton stretched over a paper pattern. Linking bars were worked with a needle, and the background sections cut away. There are some simple fillings. Work of this type was made at the village of Carrickmacross in Ireland. The more usual variety was worked through a double layer of machine net and cotton. Collar cut with a square back and long, tapering points at the front to fit a deep V-necked opening. Ogival compartments contain sprays of flowers. Flower heads decorate the edges and leafy floral sprays fill the remaining ground.
