DescriptionMixed needle and bobbin lace (part-lace technique) known as Duchesse de Bruxelles. Mostly bobbin-made whole and half stitch with thick outlining threads. Some linking bars. Inset motifs of needle lace of the point de gaze type, including three-dimensional applied petals. Straight center section swelling to pointed ovals at either end. The end pieces each contains a central flower-medallion with a needl-made center and, below it, a naturalistic needle-made flower head. Bobbin-made leaves and flower heads fill the remaining space and extend in a more [illeg.] and stylized form through the central band.
