Description1/6 plate daguerreotype in original, full leather case. Back of plate package has Simons' studio label (Philadelphia address) with name of sitter, "H.C. Hopkins," and handwritten in ink date of plate (June 4, 1846). -The leather case, which has a green silk cushion, also has "M.P. Simons, Phila" stamped on the reverse. The front of the case depicts a homestead scene with two hounds chasing a fox. The image itself is of a handsome man. It has great clarity and bears the original seal. The plate is in nice condition with some perimeter tarnish.
