DescriptionThis is a sixth plate dag housed in a traditional wooden frame miniature case with a brown pressed leather covering embossed with the love birds motif. The lid has a cushioned liner covered with red velvet embossed with a tulip motif, the tray has a white paper liner, and red velvet covered retainers. There is gold tooling on the rails of the lid and tray. The case is held closed with brass hooks and eyes. The dag. package consists of a brass foil preserver with an oak leaf motif, a white tissue paper seal, a 1/8" clear cover glass, a die cut brass mat with an oval opening with a stamped geometric border, and the dag. plate. The mat has the artist's name stamped into the bottom left corner: "Barnard/Oswego". The plate was made in the American or electroplating process.
