DescriptionThis lithograph displays a colorful landscape of trees and a large lake. The sun rises or sets, casting purple and brown shadows from the orange, yellow and crimson trees. The image is framed by reddish- brown border made to look like wood grain that depicts four images: two yellow silhouettes of fish on black backgrounds on the left and right, the silhouette of some sort of reptile at the top, and what appears to be the silhouette of a small bear rowing a kayak at the bottom.Gallery LabelWisconsin-based artist Tom Uttech imbues his paintings and prints of imaginary woodland scenes with the deep reverence he feels for nature. Ajidamoo Minis glows with a sense of mystery, magic, and wonder, transporting viewers to another place, if not another time.
Uttech often utilizes tribal language from the Great Lakes region to title his work. The printed frame that surrounds this landscape follows another of Uttech’s traditions, that of hand-making frames to complement his paintings.
