For Winner, Tom Gregg drew inspiration from the US dollar bill. Within the central ornamental oval, he replaced the portrait of President George Washington with a highly detailed bag of money. The year he printed Winner at The Lawrence Lithography Workshop, Gregg won the prestigious Charlotte Street Visual Artist Award, an honor accompanied by a hefty cash prize.

Michael Sims remembers the discipline of the acclaimed still-life artist. Gregg was dedicated to working together to get “as close to the secret formula green of a dollar bill as possible.”
