DescriptionIn the foreground, a cygnet with folded wings (left) and an adult swan with outstretched wings (right) stand, beaks down, on a mirrored surface. A woman in a black bodysuit stands at the right with her proper bent left arm reaches toward the adult swan. She has black hair and a pillbox hat. A boy squats to her left. There are a lot of small figures and possibly heads around the swans but it’s hard to say what the spatial relationship is between them. In the middle ground, a figure of indeterminate gender squats against a wall topped with a fence; its legs, too, are reflected in the mirrored surface. Behind the wall and fence, a street scene with people and buildings.Provenance
