DescriptionThis is a polychrome ōban woodblock print. It depicts fifteen scenes of children at play. The scenes are depicted in a chart-like composition consisting of five registers, and each row has three scenes. Each scene includes two to four children, most of whom appear to be boys because of the shaved heads. From the top right to the bottom left, depicted plays include flying kites, pretending to be fire workers, scaring a friend with a ghost mask, sumō wrestling, catching insects, sword fighting with iris leaves, and caring for puppies.
