DescriptionThis object is a large bound book with 558 folios, mostly consisting of beige Whatman watercolor paper, carrying watermark dates of 1826 and 1827. The book includes 417 paintings created in watercolor, opaque watercolor, and ink, over graphite drawings. There are also several pages with drawings made in brown ink and graphite, and several smaller pages with writing in brown ink inserted at the front of the book, which serves as an index. The book is bound with grey marbled-paper pasteboard and a quarter calf leather spine.The paintings and drawings in the album depict scenes from daily life, including human activities, portraits, flora, and fauna of West Bengal and Burma from the 1820's and 1830's.Provenance
