DescriptionImage of a large window with letters displayed that read "PITTSFIELD SCHOOL OF DANCE". In the room there is small table with a fringed table cloth in the center and patterned wallpaper.Gallery LabelDow has long been fascinated by store window displays and the way they can resemble small stage sets. Upon encountering this subject, Dow noted: “this window with its wilting text, crazy patterns, nonsensical table and the reflection of the roofline from across the street struck me from the moment I saw it.”
The hand-cut, paper letters, which spell the name of this modest dance school, peel and curl away from the windowpane. Their tenuous hold suggests the economic fragility of this establishment.
