DescriptionThis monochromatic horizontally oriented charcoal on paper drawing depicts the corner of a slightly disorderly looking interior. There is a large, upholstered chair facing to the right near the center of the composition. The chair is positioned in front of two windows that stretch up to the ceiling of the room. The windows have gauzy, striped curtains that are drawn closed. On the wall to the right of the pair of windows, is a picture in a square-ish frame that hangs askew. A piece of furniture, the specific type of which is difficult to discern, sit below that picture on the wall and is piled with unidentifiable objects, perhaps something made of dark cloth. A small table stands next to the central chair, close to the foreground of the composition—its long edge nearly parallel to the picture plan. There are a variety of objects on its surface, including a tall, cylindrical one at its far-right side. More undiscernible objects litter the floor beneath the table. Behind the chair at the left side of the drawing, a low cabinet with three drawers each with two knobs stands against the wall. Two bottles rest on top. Leaning against the wall the side of the low cabinet is a long tube. There are what appear to be books scattered on the floor in the foreground at the lower left.Provenance
