This photograph is one in a group of light abstractions produced by Edward Quigley. Working in an experimental manner, he used prisms, selective focus, and camera motion to create these images. This approach exemplifies the influence of the European New Vision in American photography. Quigley was both a commercial and artistic photographer, so he kept abreast of the most advanced international work of the day.
