DescriptionImage of a reclining woman with right arm raised beside her head. In her hand she loosely holds a narrow rod with round shapes tied to it.Gallery LabelThis dreamlike image presents its subject from an unusual perspective: the orientation of the floor plane is uncertain, and the woman’s arm is oddly foreshortened. Florence Henri embraced the experimental spirit of the European "New Vision" of the 1920s and 1930s. This movement emphasized photography as a mechanical medium with a thoroughly modern capacity for creative expression beyond mere documentation.
