This image, with its fragmented planes, unusual perspective and reflective surfaces, creates a sense of disorientation. Florence Henri’s work exemplifies the experimental, avant-garde spirit of European photography during the 1920s and 1930s. Henri had a broad training in the arts. After studying painting in Berlin and Paris, she took up photography in 1927.
