DescriptionOctagonal silver coffee pot on a moulded base, the tapering body divided with a moulded band. The lower part of the body is engraved with a coat-of-arms surrounded with mantling. The curved and octagonal spout has a hinged cap; the domed cover is hinged and surmounted with a baluster finial. The fruitwood handle is in the shape of a scroll.Gallery Label
This coffee pot's octagonal shape is very rare and it is one of the earliest examples extant.  The eight-sided form is particular to English wares.  The octagonal profile of the vessel's body is skillfully carried upward onto the domed lid, its baluster finial and the gracefully curved spout.
