DescriptionPear-shaped silver coffee pot, with chasing of flowers, leaves and scrolls; pot stands on three lion feet with claw bases. The spout is decorated with a shell at the base and a leaf at the upper part. The domed cover is surmounted with a pineapple finial. The side of the body is engraved with a crest. Double scroll wood handle.Gallery LabelThis coffee pot's body was raised, a process by which a flat plate of silver is hammered into the desired form over an anvil. From the vessel's body, the silver was raised into the rich scrollwork infused with flowers and foliage; this process is called chasing. The pot rests on realistically rendered lions' heads and feet complete with toes and claws. These were cast and then applied. David Willaume II, a successful London silversmith, followed his father, David Willaume I.
