DescriptionMixed needle and bobbin lace of the type known as Duchesse de Bruxelles. Mainly rather coarse bobbin lace with cartouches filled with point de gaze mesh and naturalistic flowers, including three-dimensional applied petals. The lace is shaped like a wode collar with long points at the center front, but the addition of straight bands to the front and back edges indicate that it was intended to be inset in a loosely cut garment, perhaps a tea gown or negligée.
