Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Wrapped Walk Ways transformed Loose Park and visitors’ perceptions of it. After the intervention concluded on October 16, 1978, they gave the 16,000 linear feet of luminescent nylon to the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department to repurpose.

Poetically describing the temporary nature of projects like Wrapped Walk Ways, Christo noted that they are “things in transition . . . passing through”—just like the visitors to Loose Park who traversed its pathways covered in saffron fabric for just two weeks.
