Wolfgang Volz, a longtime collaborator and the exclusive photographer of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work, captured the community involvement critical to Christo’s practice and the success of his projects. The installation of Wrapped Walk Ways in Loose Park began on October 2 and was completed October 4, 1978. A local contractor, A. L. Huber & Son, employed 84 people to work under Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s direction. Their work included hand stitching the seams of 15,000 rolls of fabric and securing it with 34,500 steel spikes and 60,000 staples.
