DescriptionTwo boxers, seen from a bird’s eye view so that it seems, at first, as if they are lying on their sides on the ring. The boxer on the left is seen in profile facing the viewer’s right. He wears a headband, boxing gloves, and shorts with a white stripe. Only his proper right arm is visible. He holds his gloved left fist at his waist. It seems to be locked in combat with the boxer on the right. The boxer on the right, in profile facing left, is has disheveled black hair, no facial features, a bare proper left shoulder and arm visible but not his fist. He has clearly gotten the worst of it. Spectators’ sketchily drawn faces and figures are visible at the top and left of the ring.Provenance
