DescriptionThis vertically oriented composition depicts a still life containing several objects arrayed atop a rectangular brown table behind which an undulating yellow-brown cloth cascades from the top of the painting at the right side. The objects that comprise the still life atop the table include a cream-colored bowl occupied by two pears. Behind the bowl is a white bottle with an hourglass shape. An orange bottle sits behind the white one and is the tallest of the objects in the still life—its neck reaching up and stopping short of the painting’s top edge. To its left is a brownish-orange bottle. The left side of the composition is occupied by a blue-grey lidless kettle and 3 more pears.. Behind the still life objects is an arrangement of horizontal and vertical rectangles—possible a window or door frame.ProvenanceThe artist, Kansas City, Missouri, 2015;
