DescriptionThe background of the painting is a landscape, oriented sideways. The landscape contains a red oil tanker in the middle of a barren, brown field. A fire is burning from the tanker, moving from the center of the painting to the top center. A series of posts run parallel to the fire. The left side of the painting is an expanse of sky, which is a grayish blue, fading to white. The foreground contains a figure—seated on a stack of unknown objects, oriented and facing the left side of the painting. The figure appears duplicated and collaged. He has four arms—his right arms are outstretched, each holding up what appears to be a photograph of the scene behind him, while the left arms rest on his legs. He is gazing at the photographs. He has three legs shown and he is wearing black dress shoes. His suit is blue, except for one arm and one leg, which have a harlequin print of black, red, pink, green, blue, and ochre.Exhibition HistoryNicky Nodjoumi: The Long Day, H&R Block Artspace at the Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO, January 25, 2019-March 16, 2019, no cat.
