DescriptionA white porcelain hot milk jug with elongated ovoid body tapering down to the base; with a short slightly flared neck with an ozier (basket weave) pattern molded into the ceramic body on the upper part, delineated with bands of gilding. The body is capped with a convex lid with ozier molding between two narrow bands of gilding and three small red, blue, green and black enameled flowers; atop of which sits a pineapple finial edged in red and yellow enamel. A female head wearing a plumed hair ornament with three feathers and a purple scarf tops an elaborate scrolled handle highlighted with gilding. A male head with a black tricorn hat outlined with gilding and ruffed collar forms the spout. Chrysanthemums, tree-peonies and insects in polychrome enamels ornament the body of the jug. Gilding highlights the handle, details of the spout, neck and lid.Exhibition History
