DescriptionComposed of three parts made of oxidized silver, the brooch is fabricated using both hand techniques such as sheet forming and soldering and methods such as digital photography and ceramic transfers. A flat square surface with a superimposed image of a brick wall, abuts an isosceles trapezoid with an inclined surface. The surface bears the image of an unspecified landscape and strokes of bright yellow paint which distort the image. Lastly a hollow square tube with a superimposed image of a bright blue sky appears to hover above the two flat scenes, but is connected to the larger one by two dowels. There is a two-pronged pin used to fasten the brooch to the wearer’s garment. On one of the pin clasps on the back of the piece, five makers' marks are in a row.Provenance
Purchased from the artist by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, 2017.
