Exhibition History

The Human Body, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, November 30, 2010-June 5, 2011, no cat., as A Winged Nymph Strewing Flowers.

Gallery Label
This may be a study for an unidentified painting, which the artist made to work out the somewhat complicated pose of the figure, especially the position of the legs and the gestures of the arms. The red chalk medium gives the drawing a coloristic appeal. This would have encouraged collectors to see this drawing as more than just a practical study, but as a work of art in its own right.
Provenance

Bequeathed by Milton McGreevy (1903-1980), Shawnee Mission, KS, to The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, 1981.
