Gallery Label
Jacob de Wit was the leading Dutch decorative painter of the 18th century. In this drawing the free cursive pen work so typical of the 18th century bears some resemblance to that in Diziani's Abduction of Europa. Because this drawing appears finished, it may be an independent work, though it could perhaps be a study for a scheme of painted interior decoration.
