Gallery Label

Federico Zuccaro was a native of Florence who was one of the finest draftsmen of the later 16th century, as well as being an important arts administrator. The figure has a relaxed and informal pose which looks forward to the works of the French artist Edgar Degas in the later 19th century. The use of two different colored chalks adds to its charm.
