DescriptionImage of a woman, standing in front of a shop window, with her hands on her hips. She's dressed in dark pants, a short jacket that ties at the neck, and a lace top with a jeweled brooch.Exhibition HistoryThe Photographs of Homer Page: The Guggenheim Year, 1949-1950. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, February 14 - June 7, 2009, no. 17.
A stylishly dressed woman stands in front of a shop window, her hands on her hips, perhaps purposefully avoiding the gaze of Homer Page and his camera. Behind her, a curved glass window display is brimming with goods—pens, alarm clocks, lighters, and even a camera to the left of the woman’s shoulder. In Page’s photograph, the window is also filled with reflections that co-mingle reflected backward signs with those inside the store, creating a subtle world of abstraction in the background.
