In this photograph, a colorful cacophony of neon letters, cast shadows, and storefront advertisements merge in a dynamic display that is both descriptive and abstract.

 

Arthur Siegel embraced color photography at a time when materials were costly and the process was time consuming. As seen here, Siegel often focused his camera on the vibrant visual jumble of urban subjects.
