DescriptionImage of a woman looking through a store window at a shoe display. Vintage print. One of three from series "In Search of Myself".Gallery Label
For his series In Search of Myself, Arthur Siegel often used window reflections to create complex visual scenes. In this picture, the lone face of a woman hovers amidst a display of shop window commodities. Siegel photographed along State Street in Chicago while he was undergoing Freudian analysis, and saw the anonymous strangers as surrogates for facets of his own personality.
