DescriptionPear-shaped silver coffee pot; the body, domed cover, spout, and finial are decorated with spiral fluting. The spout is also decorated with a shell decoration. There are engraved crests on both sides of the body. The double scroll handle is wood.Gallery LabelThis coffee pot derives its dynamism from the undulating, swirling flutes on the body and the lid. Although this design motif was popular in Europe, especially France, it is rare on English silver. As with other pieces in this collection, the fluting as well as the shell mount and bold scrolls of the spout are influenced by the Rococo style yet they are tempered with English restraint.
