DescriptionThree trees with figure and hut in foreground, under overhanging cliff on right. Stream and trees in misty middle ground, distant peaks.Gallery LabelUsing monochrome ink brushwork, Sheng Maoye captured the atmospheric effects of misty mountains and valleys. The figure in the lower right, disproportionately large compared to the trees and building next to it, suggests someone escaping from urban life to an ideal countryside villa. Is this character a friend or the painter himself?
