DescriptionThin-walled white/pink mottled sack-like form. splits in the center of the front and back. front, causing some waving in the wall of the form. thin split. oval indentation with brown glaze crackle inside.Gallery LabelThe strong, organic form of Pot R No. 401 subtly undulates only to be interrupted by an abrupt cleavage in the wafer-thin edge. Richard DeVore's seemingly free-form vessels result from carefully composed drawings that closely gauge geometric relationships and from constant editing of finished works. The creamy glaze that gradually deepens to a blush of rose is the result of slow accretions of glaze layers and many firings. DeVore imbued both the interior and exterior with a restrained yet powerful surface articulation and tension.
