This miniature coffee pot are a type of ware produced in this size for display in a doll house and, in a slightly larger size, as toys for young girls.  Although some were made by apprentice silversmiths as a test of their skills, most examples bear the maker's mark of established silversmiths, some specializing in miniature wares. These were most likely not made as salesmen's samples as has often been suggested.
