DescriptionPortrait miniature of an officer with chestnut hair and long mutton-chop side-burns wearing a black military coat before a sky background. The portrait is set in an openwork cloisonne cuff-style bracelet, featuring a snake's head and tail coiling to form the blue and gold-scaled bezel.Exhibition History

Provenance

Given anonymously to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Missouri, by 1988 [1].

NOTES

[1] The bracelet was discovered in a collections inventory in 1988. It was publicly
advertised in the Kansas City Star in 2009 as abandoned property with
no claims.
