DescriptionLarge, somewhat triangular pot with protrusions in three corners. The top has an irregular, scalloped edge. Brown interior, exterior predominantly blue, green, and white. There is pale nude woman with her left arm extended up over her head near top. The proper left side of the pot features a dark blue horse charging forward on the corner protrusion.Gallery LabelThe rippling surfaces of this vessel recall the mountainous terrain of Rudy Autio’s native state of Montana. Born in Butte, Autio found inspiration in the area’s animals and landscapes. Named after the small town of Armington, a wild stampede is evoked by a vibrant interplay between image and form. The intertwined bodies of women and horses rendered with colorful glazes and incised lines emphasize the dynamic energy between the figures.
