Gallery Label
The Flood and Noah’s Ark were universal Christian symbols of destruction and salvation, and the subjects also tested the inventive powers of artists. Here human beings are engulfed by the storm, accompanied by various marine creatures. The artist employs vigorous hatching strokes on the waves to convey the apocalyptic drama.
