DescriptionA scene into a stage; floorboards in the foreground and bound curtains at the side. Three small indistinct figures standing on the floorboards. The center one appears to be a smiling man in a black suit who faces the viewer and drapes his arms around the other two. On the stage a rickshaw middle right with a male figure in leggings, square toed shoes, and a cape with a zigzag pattern standing next to it. He is turned slightly toward the left. What appear to be the open windows of an adjacent building are above him. In the center of the stage, a large building with a peaked roof and an open door. Male figures are grouped inside with poles on their shoulders supporting an immense something – a head? An idol? – that has five conical protuberances. To the left of the building, a figure(?) stands next to an open box or trunk. The backdrop is a snowy landscape.Provenance
