DescriptionA large-scale figurative scene with loose, expresionistic brush strokes in a somber palette dominated by greens, browns, maroons and blacks. In the upper right a figure, discernable only from the waist down, emerges ominously from the shadows of the background. A black metal folding chair appears in the lower left foreground. Next to the chair, there is a male figure, dressed in a blue shirt, seated next to a female figure which is seemingly nude. The female, with garishly painted face and fingernails, drapes one arm over the man and supports the figure of a child with the other.Copyright© John Newman
