DescriptionThe plaque is vertical in orientation and depicts a standing woman holding a large drum with her left arm. The figure is carved in deep relief and heavily ornamented with beaded jewelry and wears a long skirt with multiple small folds. The figure stands in a relaxed pose with tilted head, bent arms and bent left knee. Her demeanor is pleasant, and she engages the viewer frontally with wide-open eyes. The plaque is rounded to match the contours of the figure. The surface of the plaque surrounding the figure is flat and is ornamented by numerous molded stars that are both dispersed across the surface and arranged form a border on the outer edge of the plaque. The plaque is terracotta. The surface of the plaque is reddish buff in color, however abrasions reveal a grey clay body underneath.Exhibition HistoryNo exhibition history known at this time.
