BiographyJohn H. Fitzgibbon was born in England and came to America as a child. He learned daguerreotype in Lynchburg, Virginia, and opened his first studio in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1846. In March of 1851, when he made this portrait of famed coloratura Soprano Jenny Lind, Fitzgibbon was located at One Fourth Street at the corner of Market Street.
