The firm of Altobelli & Molins specialized in topographical views of Rome, visiting personalities, military personnel, street scenes and photographing costumes. In 1858, Altobelli & Molins became the official photographers of the French Academy and local railroad authorities. From 1859 to 1864, the firm photographed the major gateways of Rome, San Giovanni, and the Piazza Barberini, Italy. From 1863 to 1865 they photographed bridges and railroad tracks from Rome to Orte, Italy. Gioacchino Altobelli and Pompeo Molins shared a studio until ca. 1865 (or ca. 1866 based on other sources) when they both established independent businesses,
