DescriptionA jichimu rectangular kang table with a three-board (?) flush floating panel top and typical mitred, mortise and tenon frame with two transverse stretchers with their tenons exposed in the long rails of the frame. The outside edge of the frame is square with a quarter circle below and a square shoulder beneath that. The deep waist with square posts to each corner is made of a single panel to each side deeply carved with a design of birds and flowers within a raised beaded edge with re-entrant corners. Beneath the waist is a flattened almost pointed molding with a strongly cusped apron, mitred and half-lapped into the short cabriole legs which terminate in an upward turning scroll foot. There is a raised beaded edge to both the apron and leg. Probably late Ming.
