DescriptionA huanghuali waisted kang table with a flush floating three-board top with three dovetailed transverse stretchers contained within a mitred frame. The outside edge of the frame with a gently curving profile with a square shoulder below has the framing tenons exposed on the short sides and the two outer transverse stretcher tenons exposed on the long sides but finished with long grain patches. The strongly drawn cabriole legs are tenoned into the underside of the frame and are mitred and half-lapped to the shaped apron which has a raised beaded edge which continues down the legs terminating in a scroll foot with a flattened ball-shaped chuck below. Late 16th-early 17th century.
