DescriptionVase with a greenish brown glaze, with a tall neck flared at the top, with a raised band of animals around the shoulder and below the neck, and two incised rings around the middle and top of the neck.Provenance

Possibly with Yueh Yu Ping, Peking (today Beijing), China, by January 13, 1932 [1];

Possibly purchased from Yueh Yu Ping, through Laurence Sickman (1906-1988), by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, 1932.

NOTES:

[1] This may be a "large Han pot, yellow glaze" bought from Yueh Yu Ping that is included on a list of purchases made in China in 1932 by Laurence Sickman, Nelson-Atkins advisor on Asian art. Harvard Pusey Library, Langdon Warner Personal Archive, box 15, folder 30, copy in Nelson-Atkins curatorial files. Yueh Yu Ping's shop, Pin Chi, was located on Tan erh Hutung in Peking.
