This 17th century engraving is based on a drawing from the previous century by the celebrated Venetian artist Titian. Particularly appealing are its lushness and variety, from the dice players in the foreground, to the grandiose trees by the river, to the picturesque bridge and castle in the distance. Scenery like this is rather like that in the countryside on the Italian mainland near Venice.
