DescriptionThe case is veneered with pieces of various types of woods. The background is a medium-dark wood decorated with lighter-toned motifs of foliage, birds, vines, tulips, vases, butterflies and cupids. Brass ornaments include the claw feet, applied mount on case door, column base and capital flanking the clock face and three finials on the top of the case. The dial is brass with silvered hour hand and engraved numerals. The circular disc within the clock face revolves to show the days of the week, with names being in Dutch. Each division of the disc shows the pagan divinity that gives the name to the day: Apollo/Sunday, Diana/Monday, Mars/Tuesday, Mercury/Wednesday, Jupiter/Thursday, Venus/Friday, and Saturn/Saturday. Above the clock face, a circular disc displays the phases of the moon.
